Buying in the Inner West: what you need to know
Ah the Inner West, a real estate market as diverse as the people who call it home. Value swings on which street, which side of it, and how long the walk to the station actually takes once you have done it in the rain. A suburb median tells you very little about the home you are standing in.
Victorian and Federation terraces, workers' cottages, interwar semis, warehouse conversions and a rising volume of new apartments. Each carries its own trap. Damp and rear lane access decide the terraces, the strata report matters more than the finish on a conversion, and two semis can look identical on paper and be nothing alike in practice.
